Victoriaโs Skilled Migration Program for 2021-22 will open to new Registrations of Interest (ROIs) on 7 July 2021.

Very exciting news for Victoria which will be opening up for 190 and 491 visa from 07/07/2021; the State has recently announced the new target and will offer ๐,๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ, ๐๐ง๐ only ๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ. So way more places for the Permanent residency visa option in comparison with the temporary visa option ( 491)
So if you qualify you should definitely go for a 190 visa.
To be considered for selection to apply for Victorian skilled visa nomination you must be:
- living in Victoria (subclass 491 applicants must live and work in regional Victoria)
- working in Victoria using STEMM skills, and
- working in a target sector.
In particular to apply for 190 visa
To be eligible to apply for Victorian Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa nomination, you must:
- have had your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected live and work in Victoria;
- work in a Victorian target sector using your STEMM skills;

This year the State of Victoria will be selecting candidates who are currently living and working in Victoria, using their STEMM skills in a target sector.
The applicant will still need an occupation from the list of available occupations. The Government will only be selecting candidates to apply for Victorian skilled visa nomination if they are using their STEMM skills in the Victorian target sectors.
The nominated occupation is still required to be listed on the Department of Home Affairsโ eligible lists for nomination applications
.
So much has changed major changes to the 2021-22 program are:
โข The removal of the minimum experience and hours worked requirement.
โข An increase in the number of target sectors.
โข Applicants must have STEMM skills and have a Skill Level 1 or 2 occupation. Applicants for subclass 491 nomination may also have a Skill Level 3 occupation using their STEMM skills.
If you submitted a ROI for the 2020-21 program and were not selected, you must submit a new ROI in 2021-22.
The big
To be selected to apply for skilled visa nomination, you must be currently working in one of our target sectors using your STEMM skills.
If you are seeking subclass 190 nomination and working in the digital sector, please note that we are currently only selecting candidates working in cyber security. However, if you are using digital skills in a different target sector (e.g. software developer working in health), you may also be selected.
The following ones are the target sectors:
Health
Medical research
Life sciences
Digital
Agri-food
Advanced manufacturing
New energy, emissions reduction and circular economy
This means that to be selected in the HEALTH target sector you do not necessarily need to be a nurse you could also be a software developer working on a software for hospitals or a cook working for the canteen.
It is more about everybody collectively making an impact on those sectors rather than specific occupations.
